House panel embraces "25 by '25" energy goal
(Reuters) Congress could set a goal of deriving 25 percent of all U.S. energy from renewable sources - biofuels and hydro, wind and solar power - by 2025 under a resolution approved by the House of Representatives' Agriculture Committee on Thursday.
Solar World: Concentrators in PV clothing
(United Press International) "It looks like a regular photovoltaic panel, works a bit like a concentrator photovoltaic system of mirrors and panels, and according to its manufacturer, costs one-half to one-third as much. "Solaria's mission is to make solar a more affordable source of energy by driving down the cost of solar photovoltaics and further accelerating the growth and expansion of the solar industry,"
North Bay Area Company iPower Delivers First Polysilicon Solar ...
(Business Wire ) Designed by Integrated Power Corporation (iPower) of Novato, California, construction has begun on the first large-scale commercial installation of single-ply membrane solar roof on The Savoy Building at Fisherman's Wharf. The 40kW system will cover 3,000 sq. ft. and generate 50,000 kilowatt hours of pure energy annually.
Sun sets on solar panels
(Santa Fe New Mexican) Indian Hospital’s rooftop heating system hadn’t worked for years The Santa Fe Indian Hospital is removing its solar panels, which haven’t worked for a decade, as part of a reroofing project. “Solar panels require a lot of maintenance, and we never really had the funding to keep them going,” said Jim Lyon, chief executive officer of the hospital for three years.
Using the Sun to Power Your RV
(Best Syndication) If you enjoy taking the RV out for an excursion, you can use solar power to provide your electrical needs. Whether you are going camping or to a NASCAR race, it is an exceedingly simple process.
Looking to the sun for power
(Pueblo Chieftain) On the top floor of the Media Elementary School, Pete Alyanakian opens a window and climbs onto the roof. There, amid a few stray tennis balls, the sun glints off an array of solar panels the size of a billboard. A few roofs over, more panels have sprouted next to the historic armory and atop the local library.
Shining Some Light on Solar Energy
(Market-Day.net) Without a doubt, solar energy is the way of the future. Solar energy production is an extremely simple process to understand. A solar, or photovoltaic, cell collects energy from the Sun. A solar cell is a semiconductor device that is constructed using photovoltaic materials. It contains no liquids or chemicals, and no moving parts.
Wind and sun could already power state
(Advertiser Adelaide) Solar power could meet the state's electricity needs, with panels to satisfy it requiring the space of 10,000 AAMI Stadiums. Wind power would need 10 times that amount of land to provide the energy – at one-tenth of the cost.
